Most people would agree that with all the labor and time I invested into The Archives of BFF, I should be charging people to access the complicated lore of Switch. However, I believe I would be limiting access to the people who actually would be impacted by the series.

When things were free.
I grew up accustomed to the ‘free’ concept. From free mobile games, free music through iHeartradio, or free version to paid subscriptions like the Rakuten Viki, I took full advantage of the access I could experience. I was aging in a decade where cash went digital. Meaning my euros coins and American dollars were completely useless for e-commerce. Now I knew classmates would buy pre-paid visa cards to purchase Spotify Premium, but I wasn’t able to do so, nor did I want to.
When my finances went from high to overdraft, I was back to feeling the cash for the digital economy. Except I was seeing this in "ministries". As a reborn Christian, I had my experience with Christians (who typically are still infants in their faith) who were offering faith-based services. One popular example was building kingdom business wealth. Sounds great for someone who is dirt broke and volume one still in draft mode. But there was a catch. It was going to cost me $500+ to receive this resource.
Transactional Wisdom
Now I asked the individual, offering the coaching, if I could receive the information for free. They and like many other Christian businesses were against the idea. Yet I was in a crucial need or desire to grow The Archives of BFF presence online. From this constant rejection to resources that I could not afford like mentorship, marketing courses, and books, I realize these people were only interested in sharing the goodness of God and the wisdom of God by transaction. Meaning as long as I paid their rent for the month, I can gain access to what God may have in store for me to learn. I knew it got bad when I started to see Youtubers and Tiktok Influencers charging monthly fees for bible study.
Free to Read Book Series: Saying No to Gatekeeping.
Yes TABs cost if you want to purchase something like a physical copy at a storefront like Walmart or Amazon. However, this free to read book series is indeed free to read on the site. Some say people only value something if they purchase it but I disagree. A physical bible cost but you can read it for free on the internet like YouVersion’s Bible App. God did not put a price tag for salvation or simply to talk to Him. God makes access free, so why should I gatekeep TABs. Access can cost but it can be free by grace.
Imagine not being able to afford 15.99 + shipping for one book. Keep in mind, I plan to have seven to nine chapter books. I tried to buy Volume One, Two, and Seven. It cost me nearly $60 with shipping. That adds up very quickly. I want someone to enjoy the series and find revelations without having to dip into a tight budget.
I know people who paid full price for a copy of TABs and could not tell you a single plot or character name. I know people who got the book for free and can explain the concept of the book to anyone who asks. I would rather have a million people get a free copy of TABs and their lives be changed for the better than make a million dollars from people who purchase yet never read page one.
TABs is not a get rich scheme for me. It's a junk journal buffet that is for that one person who desperately needs Jesus yet doesn’t know it. Plus I am making sure, this individual reads it for free.
Where are these free copies? Search our site to find them! Let the easter hunt begin!
