Bang Bang Bang!

Jean glanced at the ceiling as he laid next to Cameron in his bed. It was probably six in the morning at the BFF house. Sun barely about to rise. The dense fog laid on the doorsteps while the birds chirp in the cold air.

         Suddenly Jean heard the banging on the door once again.

         “Jean could you get it…,” Cameron asked sleepily.

Sitting up in the dark room, he took off his durag and put on a shirt before dragging his feet to the door. Leaning his head on the frame, he asked in Spanish, “Who is it?”

         “Open up man. It’s Simon.”

 

Jean glanced at Cameron wondering if he should open the door.

         “I’ll be fine. Go handle it,” she softly said. Hair was a mess by the way. Cameron’s hair looked like a hurricane pass by overnight.

Unlocking the door, Jean snuck out of his room.
         “JEAN! You wouldn’t believe what just happen last night!” Simon yelled.
         “Woah. Chill Simon. My girl is trying to get some sleep.”
         “Sorry, I just have to tell someone about it,” Simon smiled.
         “About what?”

Not wanting to cause much noise in the hallway, the two went to the hidden lounge, located behind a hidden wall by the recording studios.
         “Of course I can never figure out how to open this door,” Jean whispered as he pressed against random parts of the wallpaper.

 

“Allow me.” 
         Simon guided his hand across the wall until his felt a small square dent. Then he press the dent three times, causing it to open.
         “You first,” Simon smiled.
         “Whatever man. I wasn’t there when the tutorial was given, okay.”

 

Walking down the deep dark hallway, they entered into the lounge.
Suddenly the two were startled in their place, gasping in shock.

 

“When did you get here?” Jean said in shock.

 

Sitting on the couch was Leo, LeeSung and Kendrick doing some songwriting.
        “Yeah… When did you get here Kendrick?”
         “Got in last night. Which did you hear the news Simon,” Kendrick cheesed.

 

LeeSung laughed.
         “Kendrick you live under a rock. Don’t tell me it’s about Saige and Theo breaking up?”

 

Kendrick looked at the four in question. “That’s not news?”
         Leo put down his pen in disappointment. “C’mon Kendrick. The fans may not know but everyone in the house knows about the breakup. They broke up on New Years.”

         “Oh well my bad.” Kendrick said with his hands in the air.

 

Simon quickly then snap his fingers.

         “AHH! But there is some NEW news. Breaking news. I guess since you are all here I can tell you all at once.          Might want to take a seat for this Jean.”

         “A seat? Be for real Simon.” Jean joked.

 

Kendrick patted the cushion next him. 
         

         “You need to check the group messages more.” Jean pointed as he sat next to Kendrick.
         “And you need to get a new durag. The one you’re wearing is messing up your waves. Gonna wake up one              day looking like Dice,” Kendrick said.

         “Ladies, ladies you are both pretty. Now let hear what Simon has to say,” Leo said.

 

“Thank you Leo,” Simon bowed, “So the big news is… I kissed Saige!”

 

Blanked faces. 

 

Blanked stares. 

 

Blanked expressions.

 

Simon tried to pull out the biggest smile of the century, “Maybe if I add jazz hands, you guys would be more excited for me.”

 

LeeSung put down his pen and paper then glanced at Leo, Kendrick and Jean before back at Simon.
Clearing his throat he said, “Simon. Are you dumb?”
         “No, are you out of your mind,” Leo asked.

         “What? What did I do wrong?” Simon questioned.

 

Suddenly coming out the Maknae Lounge with candy all in his mouth was Mazen. Freezing in his steps, he noticed that Rap Line was in what is now considered a line meeting. Slowly he crawled back into the lounge before anyone could notice him.

         

         “BFF code honor. You can’t just kiss Saige and wear it like a badge of honor.” Leo said.
         “You woke me up for this Simon! Why you kiss Saige?” Jean sighed.
         “You guys know I had a crush on her for years! It’s probably a near decade long crush.”

 

Kendrick adjusted his 70s looking glasses and said, “Simon… According to the public, it is still considered that she is dating Theo. Heartthrob Theo. Her dance partner since 14 years old Theo. ‘Love is the reason why we are still together’ smash duet hit Theo. They haven’t even been broken up for two weeks and you making out with the girl?”

 

         “She is a very fine woman who happens to be available,” Simon shrugged.
         “What pill did you take? Or smoking or sniffing?” Jean asked.
         “I’m clean. Ask Lily.”
         “Well I am going to ask her again because what is this?”
         “Theo is going to be so mad if he finds out,” LeeSung sighed, “Rap Line should not have any beef with Varsity Guys.”

 

         “Ain’t nobody scared of Varsity Guys,” Kendrick chuckled.
         “It would hurt our reputation.”

 

Leo sat up in concern.
All eyes shifted to him.
         “What?” He asked.

 

Simon quickly got on his knees by Leo, “What do you know?”

Leo said a few words in Portuguese.
         “No no. No code words in RL meetings.” Simon sighed.

         “What he say Jean?” Kendrick asked.

 

Jean threw his hands in the air.
         “I don’t know Kendrick. Just because I acted on a Brazilian show, doesn’t mean I know Portuguese.”

         “I can’t release any information about anyone as Secret Keeper,” Leo said.
Simon pouted before sitting next to Leo.

         “Name your price,” Simon asked.
         “Not accepting payment.”
         “Name your offer than. I might got some dirt to give for some dirt.” 

 

Jean looked at Simon with one eye open. “What information do you possibly have that can get Leo to talk?”
         “I… I have something…” Simon said as he brush he hair back. 
         “Real convincing Simon,” Kendrick said.

 

LeeSung sat up a bit. “Doesn’t Theo have a drinking problem.”

         “Allegedly. Romeo is his right hand and none of us is close with Romeo like that.” Jean sighed.

 

Simon cried, “What about my feelings? Theo had his time with Saige. Now it’s my turn.”

          “There aren’t any turns with any BFF lady,” Jean said.

 

Leo placed his hand on Simon shoulder, “You can like her but wait until you two are both ready to be in a relationship. You don’t even know if she still has feelings for Theo.”

Kendrick slowly raise his hand.

         “How did Theo and Saige break up?”

         “Catfishing.”
         “Uh… How? Why?”

“From my understanding,” Leo yawned, “Theo was catfishing different people on dating apps. Theo claim he wasn’t cheating. But he was flirting for sure.”

         “Cameron would kill me if I did something like that,” Jean sighed.
         “Cameron would kill you if you look at another girl,” Kendrick laughed. 

 

Simon reach into his pocket and pulled out a blunt. Though before anyone notice, LeeSung grab it out his hand.

         “Bro…” Simon whisper.
         “Nah bro” LeeSung said tucking it into his pocket.
         “That was my last one…”
         “So.”

         “Simon I think it best that you wait before you pursue her because she is fresh off the boat. Plus Theo going to hate you if you pursue her,” Leo suggest.

         “Who cares about Theo? If Saige wants to be with me, then who am I to not pursue.”
         “A homewrecker buddy,” Jean mouthed.

 

Kendrick raised his hand, “What does Lily think about this?”
         “Why does her opinion matter?”
         “You two are best friends. Lily is also in the same line as Saige. You don’t think she may feel a certain type of way…”

       

 Simon laughed.

          “She may been my ex but I can promise you, she doesn’t have any feelings for me.”

         “And you can confirm it?” Jean asked.
Simon was baffled.

         “You guys can’t be serious right now. Can’t you be happy for me. My sister Jordyn went literally ghosted and I been six month clean from needles. Can’t I not have a girlfriend?”

         “What about Jackie?” Kendrick asked.
Simon sighed.

          “You date Jackie. I want Saige. Tainted Hearts is going to be my love letter to Saige.”

         

“And what happens if she rejects you,” LeeSung asked.

         “She won’t reject me.”

 

All of Rap Line reluctantly decided to give in with Simon desires because they didn’t want to see him go through another depression episode. Though in the back of their minds they knew the album was going to create unnecessary beef with Theo. Plus if you beef with Theo, you beef with lead singer Romeo Hawkins as well.

     “Were you willing to ruin a friendship with Theo for another kiss with Saige,” asked the interviewer.

​

Simon glanced at Theo who was sitting off camera in the stands. Theo seemed pretty distraught to find out about this incident. 

         “Um to be honest. I was willing to do anything’s to say that Saige was my girl. So if that means hurting Theo’s ego and feelings… then so be it.”

         “Was it worth it?”

 

The cameraman slowly zoom into Simon’s face waiting for his response.
